Laraine Jalili-Hodges
Chair of Governors

Laraine became a governor of the School 10 years ago as a parent governor and has supported the school in all areas of development during that time. Laraine was elected Chair of Governors 4 years ago and continues to works closely with the School in helping to achieve their commitment to pupil development.

Laraine is the Managing Director of a Group of Private childcare facilities within Kent and is married with one son, who also spent part of his educational years at the school.


Steve Harrison
Community Governor

Steve became a Community Governor in February 2009.

He is a registered Architect with a strong interest in sustainable design and green engineering. Previously, he has worked as a Project Manager and Organisational Change Manager during a career which started in IT.

He has an interest in helping ensure every child reaches their full potential and monitors Performance and Attainment by working closely with the school leadership team and senior staff. He is also Vice Chair of Governors.

Steve is married and has one daughter who is in year 11 (2011).

 

Liz Duckworth
Partnership Governor

Liz became a Governor of the Maplesden Noakes School in June 2008.

Liz works as the Fundraiser for the Creative Foundation, a charity which is regenerating the old town of Folkestone through the arts, creativity and education. Prior to that, Liz worked for 5 years for Kent County Council, raising £10million for schools and the charities and community organisations with whom they work.

Before her spell with KCC, Liz managed various UK Government funded and European-funded projects, gradually becoming involved in writing the applications needed to secure the funding. She was also an independent project evaluation consultant and a freelance trainer.



Steve Knowles
Partnership Governor

Steve was elected as a Partnership Governor in May 2010.

He is a qualified Metallurgist with a career in heavy manufacturing and international business. In recent years he has changed career path to the charity sector and is currently Director of The Family Trust, a Christian education charity working with primary and secondary schools in Kent.

Steve is married with two grown up children and lives in a village near Maidstone. In his spare time is a volunteer youth leader, skis and sails competitively.



Debby Fenton
Parent Governor

Debby became a Parent Governor in spring 2010, having attended the school herself some years ago and wanted to give something back.

She is Managing Director of a small local electronics company, with particular interests in Production Management, as well as an active member of her church, dealing specifically with youth interests.

Her governor specialism is with the Business and Enterprise part of the School.


Paul Holgate

Paul became a Parent Governor at the School in February 2012.

He is CEO of his own Project Management Consultancy, based in London and has worked in Project Management, primarily in the private sector for over 25 years.
Paul’s main Governor specialism is within Student Support but he maintains a keen interest in the Business and Enterprise aspect of the school also.

Paul lives in North Kent and has a daughter who is a Year 10 pupil at the school


Anthony Hedges

Tony is the longest serving Governor having first joined the Governing Body 15 years ago. His interests lie with B&E, vocational education and health and safety. Tony has worked in HR management for many years in a range of commercial businesses in the private sector.


Mary Wiles

Recently retired after 25 years in the Further Education Sector; roles included Lecturer, Head of Department and Director of Faculty.

Knowledge and experience in strategic management, implementing change, quality assurance, effective budgeting and curriculum development.

Keen to use skills and knowledge for the benefit of the school and enhance all aspects of the learner journey at Maplesden Noakes.
