Work Experience Matters

This term, we have been celebrating the success of our Year 11 students who participated in work experience as Year 10. Every student completed a work experience diary and gained an Employer Reference, which in turn will prove invaluable to them when entering the world of work or helping them apply for that Saturday job!

With support from our parents, our students were placed in a variety of roles, here are just some of the amazing comments received from the employers:

“A lovely student inside and out”

“With an attitude like this, she will go a long way, which is nice as a lot of youngsters think it falls in your lap”

“It has honestly felt like we have had a member of staff here this week, not a year 10 Work Experience Student!”

“He has even gained us business with a communication task we set him”

“He has often offered to do things before I even realised they needed doing!”

Five of our students were even offered an apprenticeship, Saturday work or a voluntary position with Country Wise Repairs Ltd, Royal Star Café, GENCO Construction Services, Utopia Clothing Store and Blakes, Maidstone; and even more being told to return anytime when they have finished their education journey.

Our work experience student winner for 2017, was Chloe Schopman who completed her placement with Kent Dog Walker, who commented:

“We have had many students from Mid-Kent College come for work experience which are 2 years older, and she easily compares to the best one we had from there, and by far exceeds some of the other students.”

“There are just so many good things I can say about Chloe and how great she has been.  I would not hesitate to offer Chloe a summer job.”

Students also received awards for their completion of diaries to an outstanding level and for those receiving amazing, first class employer reports.  These students are: Elly Booth, Grace Brooks, Abbie Plummer, Oliver Coleman, Billie Sage, Robbie Kayes, Bethany Prime, Isaac Harrison, Georgi Piskov, Max Westall, Francesca Pearce, Bethany Samuel, Sobita Rai, Michael Geldard, Oliver Hill, Molly Lee, Kira Coralie, Victoria Lane, Connor Dellaway, Chloe Pope, Bluebell Watts, Isaac Carter, Chloe Sherry, Julia Trebenda, Michal Jeevachandran, Elizabeth Summers, Shannon Wimsett, William Hunt, Dayna Chalklen, Max Bennett, Aaron Robertshaw, Doris Fong, Ben Reeves, Holly Palmer, Hayley Larkin, Gabby Fielder and Mia Neaves

We would also like to say a special thank-you to Mid Kent College for sponsoring our work experience winner award.
