Work Experience Matters

We have been celebrating the success of our Year 11 students, who left behind the security of their classrooms to dip their toes in the world of employment for one week in July.

As always, our ongoing support from our parents this year proved invaluable, placing our students into roles with a vast range of employers, such as; Howletts Wild Animal Trust, Laguna Motorcycles, Kent & East Sussex Railways and The Hazlitt Theatre.

Each student completed a diary reflecting on their skills throughout their placement and at the end of the week gained an Employer Reference, which they can use when applying for sixth form, college applications and for that elusive Saturday job!

All students were awarded with certificates of achievement in recognition of their resilience, initiative and communication skills throughout their placement.  Five of our students were offered placements over summer and Saturday jobs with Home Media Ltd, Euphoria Beauty, Pippa’s Tearooms, Maidstone Bowls Club and Barnardo’s Retail Shop, with even more being told to return anytime when they have finished education.

Many of our students went that extra mile which made it extra difficult for us to decide on a winner.

Heidi Devonshire-Jenner who was placed at MarketForce UK in Canary Wharf and Jensen Grice-Lush who was placed at ASP Motors were awarded our Runner Up Awards, each receiving a £30 Amazon voucher.

Our 2018 Work Experience Winner went to Holly Irving whose placement was at Ben Siggins Estate Agents.  Holly received a £50 Amazon voucher, sponsored by MidKent College.

Ben Siggins Estate Agents commented:

“It has been very refreshing to see such a young, driven and well-mannered young woman who was a pleasure to invest time and energy in.”

Along with;

“I wish all the adults shared her work ethic and enthusiasm.”

Holly even shot her own social media video for Ben Siggins Estate Agents on You Tube, selling a house that had just come on the market in Allington.

Many Congratulations to Holly, along with our runners up, Heidi and Jensen, Maplesden Noakes School are very proud to have you as our students.
